WHERE IN DFW SHOULD I MOVE TO?

Perhaps you are relocating to the DFW area, and aren't sure where the best area is to move to. Or perhaps you already live in DFW, but you are ready for a change of scenery. The Metroplex is a large area with much to offer, and over 3000 apartment communities to pick from. Here is a brief overview of a few popular areas in DFW:


Plano - Largest city in Collin County. Great area for families. Located 20 miles North of Downtown. Great school districts and youth sports leagues. The population now exceeds 250,000. It was recognized as the 8th safest place to live by the FBI's most recent crime statistics. Plano is also a great place to do business. Well known for it's technology and telecommunications industries. The Dallas Area Rapid Transit train now shuttles Plano residents to downtown Dallas, and areas in-between.


Addison - Popular destination for those seeking entertainment and nightlife. Addison is located 13 miles north of downtown Dallas and is connected to downtown by the Dallas North Tollway. With more than 150 restaurants, Addison has one of the highest restaurant per capita ratings in the nation. The main Street in Addison is Beltline, also known as "restaurant row" where you can find ANY restaurant that you have ever imagined. Addison is also home to The Galleria Mall. This classy Mall has more than 200 stores including distinguished retailers such as Nordstrom, Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Louis Vitton, Cartier, and Gianni Versace. This world class shopping mall even has it's own ice skating rink. Addison is also known for it's frequent annual outdoor festivals, such as Oktoberfest, Taste of Addison, Addison Kaboom Town! and the Shakespeare Festival. In addition to entertainment and nitelife, Addison is also a major hub for leading businesses. A few of the larger employers residing in Addison include Pizza Hut, TXU Communications, and Mary Kay.

Lewisville - Small town atmosphere with access to big city amenities. Lewisville is located 20 miles north of downtown Dallas. It's also only a 10 minute drive to DFW International Airport, the 3rd busiest airport in the world. Shoppers can shop 'till they drop at Vista Ridge Mall, which features more than a million square feet of retail shopping space among 160 specialty retailers and anchor stores Dillards, Foleys, JC Penney and Sears. For those who enjoy the outdoor life, Lewisville is known for it's many golf courses and it's close proximity to 2 large lakes. There are 7 golf courses in Lewisville, including Tour 18 and The Tribute. Lake Lewisville and Grapevine Lake surround the city of Lewisville. Lake Lewisville is a popular summer destination for area residents with 23,000 acres of water and 233 miles of shoreline. The south shore of the lake features picnic areas, RV areas, and tent campgrounds. Sneaky Pete's restaurant and pavilion on the water is a popular lakeside hangout.


Carrollton - Residents are drawn to the City of Carrollton for its high quality of life, abundant parks, schools and safe neighborhoods. In 2008, MONEY Magazine ranked Carrollton 15th in the country as the Best Place to Live. Carrollton is located 20 miles north of downtown Dallas and just 10 miles away from the DFW International Airport. Entertainment is nearby as Addison is only a few miles South of Carrollton for access to over 150 restaurants and the upscale Galleria Mall, and Lewisville is only a few miles North of Carrollton with access to Lewisville Lake and the Vista Ridge Mall. Carrollton residents enjoy more than 1,200 acres of developed park land, numerous playgrounds, biking trails and tennis courts. Two 18-hole golf courses at the Indian Creek Golf Club in Carrollton have been rated among the top municipal golf courses in the state. Carrollton is a great place to do business with over 5,200 businesses. It was also named recently as Texas' safest city. The Carrollton School District is "Recognized" and offers a high quality of eduction, with more than 35 public and private schools available. Carrollton is also home to Baylor Hospital, which received the Texas Healthcare Quality Award of Excellence, the highest honor from the Texas Medical Foundation Health Quality Institute. Housing is plentiful as there are still numerous new construction housing subdivisions being built, and a sizeable selection of newly built apartments and townhomes to choose from.


Irving - Centrally located in between Dallas and Fort Worth and directly adjacent to the DFW International Airport, you have access to many areas of the Metroplex, whether you love sports, shopping, art or the outdoors. With a population of around 200,000, Irving is a vibrant city known for its cultural diversity. Irving children enjoy a high quality education. Home to thousands of corporations and the global headquarters of five Fortune-500 companies, you'll discover gleaming skyscrapers, two spectacular master-planned communities (Las Colinas & Valley Ranch) and the state's only five-diamond rated resort, the Four Seasons. It is here that you can catch the Byron Nelson Championship. Las Colinas is a 12,000-acre master planned community located in Irving and known worldwide for its quality as a major business center. Los Colinas offers upscale choices in apartment living, along with high-rise office buildings, stunning waterways, private country clubs and great schools. Uptown Dallas - Located within only 1 or 2 miles from Downtown Dallas, an apartment or loft in Uptown Dallas is your window to a vibrant world filled with a Metro-attitude. Contemporary meets old-world retro charm with eclectic galleries and neighboring stores filled with interesting and unique modernized antiques. From old restored historic buildings turned into modern contemporary lofts and apartments, to the most newly built urban communities, uptown Dallas has everything you are looking for. Fort Worth - Where cowboys meets culture. Fort Worth is the 17th-largest city in the United States. Today, Fort Worth, Texas is a thriving center of culture and commerce: the Historic Stockyards, remarkable museums, a dazzling downtown area, Texas Motor Speedway, spectacular annual events and a lot more. Fort Worth has successfully merged the appealing flavor of its cowboy heritage with the urban sophistication of its artistic resources. Fort Worth's downtown's Sundance Square, the Cultural District, and especially the Fort Worth Stockyards highlight the western cowboy heritage of the City. The Fort Worth Cultural District is home to five wonderful museums, and thruout the city you will find many other museums that explain why Fort Worth is called "the museum capital of the Southwest." You’ll also find a magnificent and thriving performing arts scene in Fort Worth, including symphony, ballet, opera, and live theater. Fort Worth offers plenty of child-friendly activities and attractions also, including the top-ranked Fort Worth Zoo, interactive exhibits at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the many parks and gardens, plus nearby Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor. The Fort Worth scene is a little more rural and western and laid back, but it allows you access to many activities.


The DFW Metroplex is a very well-connected city, with SO much to see and do. Regardless of where you actually settle down, you are only minutes away from all the attractions that DFW has to offer. Shopping and fashion mecca with an eclectic array of gifts features 25 major shopping malls, 30 antique districts and numerous boutiques. Nearby major malls include the Stonebriar Mall, the Dallas Galleria, The Shops At Willow Bend, Vista Ridge Mall and the 1.9 million square foot Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall. Still, all of this is only a sketchy outline of all that DFW has to offer. Even if you prefer a more rural setting in a quiet, peaceful atmosphere of pastures and open spaces, there are parts of DFW that offers this setting as well.
